I’ve been really good about menu planning. Every Sunday I spend a good chunk of the day prepping and cooking for the week. Its become a lovely little ritual to starting the week! When i was on the road over the weekend, I had very few options when it came to prepping for the week. And needed to get some groceries ASAP.
I had just happen to be in Walmart… cuz my parents buy cereal like theres going to be a nuclear holocaust and while cruising the aisles trying to avoid them with their 3 shopping carts of cereal I recalled a Hungry Girl staple that would be cost efficient and stable during a 3 hour car ride.
DAN GOOD CHILI.(because i prepared this recipe almost exactly the way its listed on the website, i will not be re-posting the recipe)
I purchased all the ingredients and hit the road. I spent $5 on this recipe… some stuff was already waiting for me at home. But if you’re in a bind this cooks up quickly and cheaply.
Sauteed the pepper, onion and garlic for several minutes. It smelled so good.! then I added the mushrooms.
And all the beans, corn and stirred it up. I added the chili powder and then poured in the crushed tomatoes.
Dont forget the worcestshire sauce (special thanks to Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program). I let this simmer, covered on low for 2 hrs.
Whoa. this was great. Its like Pantry chili! cuz most of the stuff is from the pantry! der.
This isnt a very exciting recipe… but i wanted to share my menu planning success from the road.
Got any great no fuss recipes???
oh my god! dan good chili is seriously my favorite chili of ALL time! i would so much rather be cooking that up instead of cooking up this paper! give me someeeeeeeemy no fuss recipe lately has been soup! chicken stock, lots of veggies, and nooch in a pot and boil that shiznat UP. with grilled cheezyness on the side!
So simple! I love it. And meal planning is the BEST! I do my meal planning on Sundays too.
Looks delish. I don't make my chili anything like this at all. As a matter of fact I dont put vegetables in it. So I might have to give this one a try. I can't wait to see what you whip up for the holidays. xo
yum!! looks healthy and tasty!
Looks great and like something that I could actually make! I wouldn't call this a recipe but I make frozen veggies and a veggie burger or Amy's Burrito all the time for dinner..no fuss!!
I love meal planning and cooking on Sundays! I cant wait for my life to get back to normal after the holidays so I can hunker down with my recipes and plan then cook. It saves so much time in the long run and I will make 3 meals on Sundays (always one in the crock)I never had beans in my chili until a few yrs ago. My mom never made us eat beans so it was pretty much unknown territory to me. But now? Love em!!My no fuss meal is usually chili or crock pot chicken with wing or bbq sauce. You can get a gew meals out of it and pulls apart perfectly.
I want to make this!!!!! I have been craving chili like WOAH
Yum- I love chili but I have never made it myself! My no fuss meal is probably a sandwich or eggs- no fun, but gets the job done!
