It would seem that most of you agree that  I need to get back in the kitchen and bake… damn. I need to find my mojo! Seriously.

Lets delve further into the seriousness of the matter. This recipe that you are about to see- i made these cookies a month ago. For Cinco De Mayo.

For Shame.

I do hope you will forgive me! I have some awesome stuff that I am working with to make a sexy batch of something yummy. What exactly? I cant say yet because i have no idea what it is…

But around the time that I was looking for a cookie recipe, I really wanted to forgo the same ol’ chocolate chip cookie variation that I always do and opt for something a little different. While I was at my local starbucks (ppl who follow me on twitter know the addiction) I ordered a cinnamon dolce latte on ice. When i took it back to my desk one of my coworkers asked if it was the snickerdoodle latte.

i laughed.

And then it hit me.

SNICKERDOODLES.

I freaking love those!

Cinnamon sugar. Buttery cookies. Never made them before.

until now!

and you know i had to go to the best source ever for making snickerdoodles. The Diva, Deb, from Smitten Kitchen.

Smitten Kitchen’s Snickerdoodles (please visit Deb’s website for the complete recipe)

I made a MASSIVE ball of cookie dough with my handy dandy kitchen aid Mixer and refrigerated it overnight. Deb says that it makes the cookies easier to handle.

Shes right.

The dough is very light and fluffy and after a few hours in the fridge, the dough hardens, making it more clay-like. Roll tablespoon size spoonfuls into balls.

Then roll them in cinnamon sugar.

They look like little donut holes! (squeal! project idea!!!!) place the cookie dough balls onto a non stick baking sheet (you might want to give them more room than this- mine kinda stuck together) and bake according to Deb’s instructions.

I have a habit of underbaking….

I baked these 1-2 minutes under the recommended time. Despite that, i set them out to cool and really liked their slight chewiness.

This once batch made about 6 dozen cookies which was a big batch…

I packed the entire thing and took it to a bar crawl. they were a huge success. Phil’s fiance sent me a text a few days after the bar crawl telling me about a snickerdoodle she ordered at a cafe.

“This shit is too crunchy! You ruined all snickerdoodles for me! Can you make me a batch ASAP?”

Yiikes! Sorry ‘bout that. Guess I just have to make her some more! :)

…once i return from this baking sabatical that is.

Ever get in a funk? How do you get out of it???
