Greetings!
Hopefully if you are reading this, you are in the sanctuary of a cool and comfortable place…and not dying from this heat wave. For those that aren’t somewhere cool and refreshing, I wanted to put up a post today that would encourage nothing but cool and comfortable conditions.
But I have to admit, not even the photos here are cooling me off. I woke up so wonderfully comfortable with my air conditioner humming and then hopped into a warm shower to come out sweating. I knew that if I was already sweating at 7am that it was going to be a long day. I dressed and walked my dog who protested this weather while I longed for a trenta sized iced coffee (dude…that is one serious bucket-o-java). I slowly walked to the the train station where I was hot but not miserable. I proceeded to wait for 7 minutes while my skin glistened with sweat. By the time the train came, I was dripping.
There is nothing wrong with a little sweat sesh…but in 4 inch heels and dress slacks, not so much fun. But on a morning like today I want to bathe in this:

What is that you might ask?

Its the cure. Its shaved ice, like no other shaved ice I have ever had in my life. In last week’s Time Out New York, instead of adding it to the magazine pile on my dining table, i actually read it and discovered a new spot by my office that offered a south pacific treat that would cool me to the core.

Wooly’s.

I skipped lunch the other day and took a walk near 1 Police Plaza and saw this little kiosk that I remembered from Time Out New York. There was no time like the present to try this amazingness since I was hot and in need of refrescamente! There are two sizes at Wooly’s. Wooly size , $4 and Mammoth size, $6. I opted for a wooly size since I wasnt sure if i was going to love it… To order you must:
-Choose your size. I chose Wooly
-Choose your ICE. There was green tea shaved ice and original. I went with original.
-Choose your topping. (2 for wooly, 3 for mammoth) By the time I got there, all the fruit was gone. All that was left was fruity pebbles, brownies, and mochi. I chose brownies and mochi.
- Choose your syrup. Chocolate, strawberry, condensed Milk and lychee. I chose condensed milk.
They made my ice. I paid and walked back to my desk with it.

The entire thing is delicately sweet. The ice is shaved and looks like thin ribbons of snow in a cup. The ice itself is a little sweetened and the addition of the other yummies makes this uber refreshing. I think i would LOVE this if i had the fruit syrups!

Because i am lactose intolerant this thing hit me immediatley. So, while I was negatively affected by this, i would definitely indulge again if i prepare myself beforehand… and I am going for the fruit next time!
