Don’t know how but I managed to get some of my weekend photos off of my camera… Must be because I let the camera sleep on my pillow last night- maybe.
But the important thing is I have lots to keep you entertained now and I dont have to cry or make some poor soul take time out of their schedule to write for me.
Sunday morning was a disgusting raining cold mess. I woke up to Mickey licking me in the face with her deadly morning breath.
She needs to potty.
In this pouring rain.
Once I had taken her out and came back the boyfriend was up and at it. Our original plan for the day was to go to Tower Diner for breakfast and head out to the mall to get him some new gear. When we got to the car we noticed one of his tires had been slashed. That really messed things up. The tire shop was WAAAAY passed Tower and was relatively close to the mall. Two dinning options: Pop Diner and Georgia Diner. And without even asking me Henry pulled into the parking lot of Pop Diner (because Henry would rather lick a public toilet than eat at Georgia)…
I was looking forward to breakfast because we havent been to Pop Diner in a while!
The decor in this hip joint is funky. Its bright and kind of space-age… I imagine this is where George Jetson would have taken Jane on their first date. The booths are big and comfy and the menu is unique.
We started with a big ol cup of joe. A diner is a diner and usually coffee is okay- but this coffee was a bit stronger than most and kind of tasted like a good columbian coffee… or maybe Choc Full of Nuts… Tasted great! So far, Pop Diner is still good.
Henry knew before we sat down he wanted huevos rancheros
and he claimed they made the best. Its a platter of two fried eggs, salsa, refried
beans, yellow rice on top of a warm tortilla. He assembled a perfect bite with a little taste of everything on it and I was lost for a moment. I dont
know what kind of salsa they used but it had bold flavors that really complimented the eggs. That is a dish worth craving.
I, on the other hand was craving Goat cheese but settled for a Mediterranean omelet
. It came with a MOUND of soft and tangy feta cheese, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and egg whites. I asked for fries but realized i should have just settled for home fries
. I thought the fries had the texture of a cajun
fry, minus the spices. All in all the fries were not my fav
( but thats
what boyfriends are for- they eat your fries). Loved the omelet
Our bill came to about $23 – which in my book is pretty decent!
We went to the mall where we walked around for 4 hrs trying on different clothes. Its been years since Henry has been shopping for clothes and I was glad to assist in the refreshing of the wardrobe!
We hit up the two major stops. Macys and JCPenney. I love the bargains. I always always always take a walk on the appliance floor which always ends up with me buying something ridiculous ( i still havent gotten my KitchenAid!). I walked by a food steamer, instantly remembering Missy just got one and saw it was 40% off. Niiiiiice. I bought it- DUH!
wait to go home and try it out! Tilapia
, lemon, onions….
with broccoli and cauliflower… (once it was cooked i tossed it with salt, pepper, and Parmesan
Dinner was served in 30 minutes and I didnt
have to do much but clean up. Henry did all the prep work. the steamer did all the cooking and i did all the eating! yummy!
