Well… lucky for those that entered- the odds were pretty good. LOL. Shes honest, charming and funny and I do hope she will take the opportunity to share her recipe with us when she receives her gift pack. And please pop on over to Kims Blog to see just how wonderful she is!

I make my veggie pizza with crescent rolls. I press them onto a cookie sheet, brown the ‘crust’ at the temp given on the package, let it cool. while its baking i take a brick of philly cream cheese (softened) and mix it with a pkg of dry ranch dressing mix and set it aside while the crust is cooling. After the crust is completely cool, I spread the cream cheese mixture over it. Then I cut up broccoli crowns, cauliflower very finely, distribute it all over the cream cheese mixture, press it in a little to set it. Then I add chopped roma tomato, diced English cucumber, whatever else I want on there and top with finely shredded cheddar cheese. It is AMAZING. 🙂

…Because in Honor of my One Year Blogiversary I am having a stupendous giveaway.
Progesso is sponsoring todays Giveaway.
The canned soup battles are getting ugly. It seems that every time I go shopping there is a new and improved version of something. Canned soups have gone from the Low Fat, Low Cal variety, to All Natural variety, and Now Progresso has a line of low fat, all natural and HIGH FIBER soups.

To get the word out, Progresso wants to send one lucky Food Snob reader a big Can of Fiberlicious soup, two GORGEOUS Soup bowls with Awesome thumb rest handles, and two spoons emgraved with the Progresso logo.
The Stats are pretty impressive. Each can has two servings and each serving contains the following:
Cal: 110
Fat: 2g
Sodium: 690 mg
Carb: 24 g
Dietary Fiber – 7g (GAD ZUKES!)
Not only does Fiber have regulating benefits but it also keeps you full and satisfied. I tried the Minestrone and while I forgot to take a picture, i will say that its a standard minestrone in a can but I was satiated with one serving (and that says alot!)

So, you see? Reading Food Snob will make one person regular… LOL.

To enter, please do one of the following (or all for more chances)
1- Leave a comment (with your NAME and some way for me to contact you if you win) telling me how you get your daily fiber intake.
2- Subscribe or Follow me
3- link this contest on your blog

Contest Ends at 10 am on Friday, December 18 (the actual blogiversary!).

i’m definitely a mixture. I always collect coupons but when i need something then I would purchase it without hesitance. but I would never buy things just cause they look good. I always write a list of things i need then go with the list.

"SIMPLY" the Best Contest EVER!

02 Wednesday Sep 2009

“Simply the Best! Better than all the rest…”
Every time I see these cookies that song gets stuck in my head.

I have been on a bit of baking kick these days and this post is LOOOONG Over due. I was asked to review Pilsbury’s new line of cookies: SIMPLY; which is to imply the simplicity of their ingredients and baking. I was so excited but after searching every single grocery store I have ever heard of…not to mention the fancy ones (gristedes, food emporium, whole foods, etc) I emailed Pilsbury and they sent me a product locator.
When I finally found these cookies (insert: Hallelujah Chorus here) I got busy.
Who doesnt love a butter cookie, right? But BONUS if its a Peanut Butter cookie! I love baking but sometimes can be baking challenged. Soft cookies come out hard, deformed, burnt, etc. I somtimes long for the simplicity of a pre-made store bought dough that I can plop on my cookie sheet and let my oven do the rest.
I am still on my health kick trying to avoid overly processed foods ( for the most part) and fell madly in love with the ingredient list for the SIMPLY cookies. Are you ready? Flour, peanut butter, eggs, vanilla and sugar- hello! thats it! Thats incredible!
I opened the package and was happy to see that the cookies were all ready to go being portioned already. Don’t you hate it when you have cookies that all different sizes??? And I can never tell how many to expect by looking at a ball of dough- I’m just not there yet.
Wanting to mimic the design on the package, I pressed a fork into the dough. Baking these bad boys takes little to no effort at all. I was cleaning the apartment and doing laundry and still managed to bake fresh cookies – without even breaking a sweat. Henry was so impressed.
Preheat the oven to 350*. Place cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet, place in the center rack of the oven (to ensure even cooking) and wait for 10- 15 minutes.
I baked mine for 13 minutes. The design is totally gone but they spread out really nicely!!! Once they were done, I transferred them to a cooling rack and let them hang out.
It is really important to use a cooling rack when baking. If you leave your goods on a hot pan they will continue to cook- regardless if they are in the oven or not. This is where some cookies get that burnt bottom- don’t ruin yummy cookies with burnt bottoms!
I said so!
So,… I really dig these cookies. They were buttery, soft, and had a perfect amount of peanut butter in them. I beleive next batch i make will have a chocolate drizzle waiting for them when they are cooling.
Lately, I have been making goodies from scratch but when I get home from work I am just too darn tired to measure and knead and blend and etc. This product TASTES homemade and is awesome for busy moms who want to give their kids a treat without all the artificial fillers. This is also a great product for the baking challenged.
I can’t tell you how much I feel for you readers who send me comments telling me that you are baking challenged- i just want to give you a hug and tell you its gonna be alright.

But it IS gonna be alright! This lovely picture above is up for grabs. It is! Im not lying!
ANYONE with an email address is eligible for this contest.
One lucky winner will be drawn on Monday, September 7th. The winner will receive a Simply Canvas tote bag, a cookie jar and a voucher for a free package of Simply cookies (choc chip or peanut butter).
To enter please leave me a comment with your email address (to notify winner) and the answer to the following question:

What is the quality you find most desirable..in a COOKIE?

(for me its moisture- love a soft cookie!)

Please note you can only enter once per day, you can gain extra chances by linking this post back to your, following me, adding me to your blogroll, or tweeting about this post.
Good luck dah-lings!

NYC Eggland’s Best Recipe Contest – Philly Cheese Steak and Egg Frittata

02 Monday Mar 2009

Posted by Monique in Contest, eggs, Recipes, steak

Eggland’s Best is having Recipe Contest. And I’m Entering. I also want a free breakfast.

So using my leftover steak from the other night, i am going to make a frittata of a Classic sammie turned into a yummy treat! Plus, Steak and eggs make a nice couple.
Philly Cheese Steak and Eggs… with some Garlic Toast! Yum! this steak is perfect for a frittata because it literally falls apart when you touch it (in a good way).
Here’s what you will need:

5 eggs beaten
6 oz of leftover steak chopped up coarsely
1/2 an onion chopped
2 tbsp Fat free milk (add to beaten eggs)
salt and pepper to taste
2 tsp butter or some nonstick spray
3 slices of Provolone, swiss or Mozzarella.
(for toast- toast two slices of bread. take one cloves are garlic and rub it onto the toast, then add a little butter/margarine)
Heres what ya gotta do:
Preheat oven 400*. Beat 5 eggs and add milk to them to make it fluffy.
In a skillet (cast iron or stainless steel) saute onions in butter till they turn clear and start to caramelize. Add the coarsely chopped steak and heat through. Pour beaten eggs in and using your spatula move everyone around till the eggs start to solidify. Take then entire skillet and put it in the oven. Let it cook for 10 minutes or until top layer is golden brown. Remove from oven with pot holders and lay the cheese on top. Serve with some garlic-buttered toast.

Toast the Bread… I used my toaster because it toasts bread. im sure there are other methods. this one works best though.

I learned this trick from Rachael Ray. take a clove of garlic and rub it across a slice of toast. Now its all garlicky and delicious.

I sprayed it with I Cant Beleive its Not Butter. About 7 sprays each slice.

Here’s my dinner plate. It smelled soooo good! I could seriously go for some right now!

And here’s my big bite. I placed a piece of the frittata on the toast and ate it like an open faced sammie. Love love love! yum!
